Back to the Future!

Each week at Triple C Camp has a theme, and each Wednesday the counselors (and some campers) dress up. This week's theme is "back to the future" and the assigned dress up was someone from the past or future. So of course, Zara dressed up as Laura Ingalls (or possibly a generic pioneer girl, which is ironic since her group is the pioneer girls, but I've already made this joke earlier this month, so moving on...) and was, as you might have guessed, sensational. Better than Cats. We're going to see it at least 2 more times.

White Rock Falls, revisited

We took our 3rd hike to White Rock Falls with Zara's friend Jake (from preschool) and his family. This is quickly becoming a favorite hike - just about a mile to get down to the Falls, and then if you take the shortcut back up (which we always have) I think it's probably only .5 miles home. Big bang for the buck. The water was considerably lower than when we were here in the beginning of summer (likely due to the crazy heat and not so much rain), but as you can see from the last picture, it afforded Zara and Wes the opportunity to climb a waterfall. Amity enjoyed dipping her toes in the water.
Thanks to Colby for the awesome shots!

Soccer, Round 2

Zara loved soccer with Coach Mariano in the Spring, so we figured, hey, why not? She's back for more! Here they are, balancing and having fun (in the heat!)

In my addled somewhat sleep-deprived state I somehow convinced myself that soccer was at 9am. Upon arrival, Zara looked a bit bigger than some of the kids, but many seemed her size. Upon return to my email I realized the 5 year olds play at 10am. Doh! Next week we'll get it right!

Nesting Dolls

Ok, so they don't nest and they're not really dolls, but they are cute as can be all lined up in a row. Here we have Nora (of the formerly purple house which is now blue, and a lovely shade of blue it is) in a Z and A sandwich. It's appropriate seeing as N is roughly halfway between them.

What Would Laura Wear?

Knowing how much Zara's enjoyed reading the Little House on the Prairie series (known in our house as the "Laura Books"), Grandma Bonnie made Zara her very own bonnet and apron. At first Zara was a bit confused - she'd been asking for a "real live" bonnet for a while, but didn't actually recognize it when she was given one! A bit of coaching from Grandma and she was fit to be a pioneer girl (which is extra fitting since that's the name of her camp group starting next week). Zara wore the bonnet and apron for the better part of the next several days, though we did convince her to take them off for bed... but it was a struggle! Thanks, Grandma!

Sitter

Happy 5 month birthday, Amity! We guesstimate you are just over 17lbs, and probably 26 or so inches (we'll measure soon, I promise :) Just like your sister, it seems that you also believe a 5 month birthday should be celebrated with a sit. Well sat, little one!
