Family Portraits

The first 3 photos here were part of a photo session we took part in so that Wes' parents could have photos of all of their kids and grandkids as an anniversary present. Wes' brother knew the photographer, and she did a stellar job. The 4th picture shows a more "natural" state of being (at least for the kiddos) and further underscores what a great job the pro photographer did with us!

Tour de Playgrounds

Yup, more pictures of the kids at yet another playground. Not pictured - the rest of us hanging around drinking coffee and telling the kids, every time they came over to us, to "Go Play!" Grown ups need their play time, too. Where play time includes coffee and deep conversation. And coffee.

Riverwalk Carousel

We visited Riverwalk last year, too. This year we had no Greene-Hutchings in tow, but we did have Auntie Clare's company. Also, Amity's now old enough to ride the carousel without me standing right next to her. Progress!

Skate World

The picture's a bit blurry, but it captures the scene pretty well. Auntie Clare took us all roller skating. Zara and Amity had never been on roller skates, and neither Wes nor I had been on the non-inline kind in a VERY long time. The roller rink was more or less stuck in time somewhere in the 80s, though some of the musical selections were contemporary (largely to our chagrin). Zara became quite proficient on skates and was able to make it around on her own, and didn't seem to mind the incredible amount of falling she was doing (much of it likely on purpose). Amity required a grown or two to help her navigate the rink, but she'd actually get going pretty well (when she wasn't trying to hang on us, knock us down, etc).

After a few hours of skating fun, Zara left with Auntie Clare for a sleep over while Wes, Amity and I went back to Gabi and Sean's house. It won't be long now (ok, maybe a few years, but still, she's very excited for it), before both sisters are slumber partying at Auntie Clare's house. (And thanks Auntie Clare, for being so awesome)

Zoo at the Zoo

We all went to the zoo again this year, but for some reason the only photographic evidence we seem to have is of Zara. And some primate statues. But trust me, we were at the zoo.

DIA

Another summer trip to Michigan, another visit to the DIA. Not too many pictures of our exploits this time. But the kiddos make good sentries, no?

Playground, OC Style

For some reason at least partially unknown to me, we did not manage to take nearly as many pictures as I would have liked of our Michigan vacation fun. But here's a few snaps of what the kids spend a good bit of their summer (or really, any nice weather) doing.

Reunited!

Zara went to sleep away camp (Camp Hidden Meadows) for 3 weeks. She had a wonderful time, while we all missed her lots, especially Amity. Here's a picture of sister snuggles from lunch about an hour after the sisters were reunited. They were indeed happy to be back together again. We were happy to have Zara back, too (even though we know she had SO much fun at camp and will be going back again next year).

Fairy Tale Ballet

Amity enjoyed her first ballet class quite a bit. Here she is showing off her bun, first position and giggling with her friend Meeka (in crowns and capes, of course).
