Backyard Shenanigans

We had a lovely but all too brief visit with Grandma and Grandpa (that's Bonnie and Art for those of you playing along in the home game). Zara was pretty sad when they left, so she, Amity and I retreated to the backyard for some outdoor frolickin' - always good for whatever ails you...

Pull-up

Hide your choking hazards, cover your outlets, pad your pointy corners and get ready for chaos... because Amity's on the move! She's pretty much crawling (cute video of her adorable scoot/crawl forthcoming) and has taken to pulling up on almost EVERYTHING she can get her paws on. This includes rocking chairs, twisty stools, Zara's mini-potty, and a host of other things that should not be pulled up on. I feel that it may be time to confine her to one of those plastic hamster balls... ;) But in all seriousness, she's rapidly shucking her baby mantle and moving onward and upward towards the land of those who toddle.

Bath

So we've hit another one of those milestones - with some assistance, Zara and Amity can take a bath together. Amity actually sits very well, but gets so excited a) in the bath and b) in the presence of Zara that she is likely to topple over at any minute. This explains my ever present hand not quite out of frame. Here we see Zara washing her own hair and then assisting Amity with a rinse.

Rainbow Unicorn

We went to a street fair in midtown. That's midtown C'ville, not midtown NYC. For those of you in the know, it's basically between Maya (or former Starr Hill) and Feast/Calvino Cafe (or maybe that one more block to take it all the way to the Mall :). Highlights included roller (derby) girls and face painting... Zara as unicorn (done, I believe, by the same woman who did Zara as a lion).

First Hikes

Here we are, this time we actually made it up to the top of Humpback Rocks. This was Amity's first real hike in the backpack (as opposed to the Ergo), and Zara's first time walking the whole way up. She walked all the way down, too, but that was not a first. This awesome view never gets old. Have I mentioned how much we love living here?
