Mx. Hollywood

What do you do when the vagaries of travel have you with approximately 9 hours to kill between disembarking from the ferry in Long Beach and needing to be at LAX for your red eye home?
Clearly the first thing you do is get sushi. Luckily for us there happened to be a surprsingly tasty sushi joint very near to Hollywood Boulevard so we got to see the "stars" and eat the veggie rolls nearly simultaneously.
Of course our next stop was coffee (pictured here, in my hand) but the real goal was to get some hiking in before we had to sit on a plane for hours and hours. Well, only about 4.5 hours (thanks, tailwinds!) but still, that's a lot longer than any one of us typically likes to sit still.
No access to the Hollywood sign, you say? You mean this sign, here?
I think not. We're not going to let a sign boss us around. Seems like we're well on our way!
Oops, we overshot! Nice view from the top of... Mt. Lee, i think it is? Somewhere in Griffith Park. Maybe not as iconic as the Observatory, but it was a fun 4-ish mile walk (a little nothing compared to our 8.4 miles trek on Catalina the day before) and we took in some pretty great views. It was also a pretty popular walk, what with the nice weather and all.

We closed out the day getting stuck in some mild traffic on the 405 (not pictured), grabbing some decent falafel and gyros for dinner (also not pictured), and then made it to LAX about 3 hours before our flight, so LOTS of time to spare.
